The average battery life for the camera is about 1.5 hours. This will suit most people’s needs, unless you need to shoot for hours at a time. Longer shots can be accomplished by purchasing additional batteries from Canon that can double or even triple the recording times.
The real sticking point for me with this camera is the video quality. The features are great and easy to use. Even if they were hard to use, I think I would be really hard pressed to find a camera with video as superb as the HF200. Competitors have tried to create video that is as good as Canon’s, but thus far I haven’t seen anything come close. And since it uses an SD card, you can easily transfer video from the camera to your computer in a snap.
Costing around $1249, it is a more expensive camera, but the video quality and features certainly make it worth it. Cheaper competitor cameras have not even come close to the HF200 in terms of video quality or features. Canon has a real win with this product as they have created one of the best HD camcorders available.
